During my almost 30 years as a sociaI worker, my goal has been to help children, adults and families work through life challenges and help them build relationships.   Using a strengths based foundation, I help clients recognize their capabilities and develop coping skills to help them get through the tough times.    My counseling approach is client centered, individualized, and utilizes evidence based interventions.  Using cognitive behavioral, family systems and solution focused approaches we will work together to explore ways to make changes.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with  a Masters in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago.  In my early career, I worked with autistic children and soon developed a deep respect for the parents of children with special needs.  This experience led me to become a social worker, with the goal of strengthening families and helping individuals attain the personal growth they want.  During my career, I've worked with the school system to provide services to children, at risk youth and families, addressing challenges of special needs students as well as issues surrounding depression, anxiety and low self esteem.  Throughout, I've helped families build more positive relationships and helped adults work through their life stressors.

Testimonials

Several of my children had the good fortune to be Mrs. Cynthia's clients for a few years. She always showed them compassion and kindness while guiding each of them through their individual healing processes. Her therapy methods have been very effective. Even though we moved to a different state, we still regularly use many of the coping skills we learned from her. I am very grateful for her non-judgemental way of navigating through difficult subjects and behaviors that my children needed her help with. She will always have my deepest respect and gratitude.
